Why Some People Win and Others Quit Has Nothing to Do with Skill, and Everything to Do with WHY.
“When the ‘why’ is strong enough, the how becomes easy.” Jim Rohn
Let’s be honest, most people say they want success, but few are willing to fight for it. Why? Because they don’t have a real reason to fight. They say things like:
“I just want to make some extra money.”
“I’d love to travel someday.”
“I want more time freedom.”
But those are surface-level wants. Not deep enough. Not emotional enough. They won’t get you out of bed early. They won’t make you pick up the phone when you're nervous. They won’t carry you through rejection, disappointment, or slow progress.
So here’s the truth:
Until you discover your real WHY, you’ll always struggle to follow through.
But once you do? You become unstoppable.
THE MOM WHO LIFTED THE CAR
There’s a story of a mother whose son was trapped under a car when the jack failed in their driveway. She didn’t stop to think. She didn’t google “how to lift a car.”She didn’t call a fitness coach. She ran over, grabbed the car, and lifted it, over 2,000 pounds, and saved her son. Why? Because her WHY was stronger than physics. She wasn’t motivated by money or convenience, she was fueled by love, urgency, and absolute clarity.
THAT’S WHAT YOU NEED. You need a WHY that hits your heart, not just your head. A reason that lights a fire so hot, it burns through every excuse.
STEP 1: WRITE DOWN THE BASICS
Start with the surface stuff, even if it’s small. What do you want right now?
-
I want to travel more
-
I want extra income
-
I want to quit my job
-
I want to pay off debt
-
I want time with my kids
-
I want to stop stressing about money
STEP 2: DIG DEEPER — 3 LEVELS DOWN
Take each of your answers and ask this question:
“Why is that important to me?”
Example:
I want extra income.....
➡ Why is that important?
→ Because I’m tired of living paycheck to paycheck
➡ Why is that important?
→ Because I don’t sleep at night knowing one emergency could wreck us
➡ Why is that important?
→ Because I promised myself my kids would never grow up scared like I did
THAT'S YOUR REAL WHY.
The first answer was just a want. The third answer is fuel.
STEP 3: ADD EMOTION
Write it like a mission, not a to-do list.
Weak WHY: “I want to make more money.”
Strong WHY: “I want to break the cycle of poverty in my family. I want to look my kids in the eyes and know I did something that gave them choices I never had.”
Your WHY should make you feel something. It might make you emotional. That’s a good sign. It means you’ve found the truth behind the truth.
STEP 4: PICTURE THE COST OF NOT CHANGING
Ask yourself:
-
What happens if I don’t take this seriously?
-
What will my life look like in 5 years if nothing changes?
-
Will my kids live the same stressed life I’m living?
-
Will I look back with regret?
Get honest with yourself. This will add urgency and help you stay focused.
STEP 5: WRITE YOUR WHY IN 2 VERSIONS
-
Short Version (1 sentence you can say daily)
-
Long Version (a full paragraph you can read when you need strength)
Example — Short Version:
I’m doing this to buy back my freedom and break generational limits.
Example — Long Version:
I’m doing this because I want my children to grow up with security and choices. I’m tired of watching life pass by while I trade hours for dollars. I want to travel, live free, and build something that lets me leave a legacy. This business is the vehicle, and I will do whatever it takes.
STEP 6: SHARE IT WITH YOUR MENTOR
Say it out loud. When you speak it, it becomes real. Now someone can help hold you accountable when the excitement fades. If you’re serious, message your mentor with this: “I just finished my WHY. Want to hear it?” Email it to us- darrylandmaria@live.com
STEP 7: POST IT WHERE YOU SEE IT DAILY
-
Your mirror
-
Your phone wallpaper
-
Your fridge
-
Your car dashboard
-
Your vision board
Remind yourself why you started. Motivation fades. Vision sustains.
STEP 8: PROVE YOUR WHY WITH ACTION
If your WHY is strong, it should show up in your habits.
-
Are you on the Zooms?
-
Are you practicing the invite so you can say it with POWER, and are you inviting people daily?
-
Are you watching the Jim Rohn videos again and again?
-
Are you posting content and creating your launch story?
-
Are you following through?
If not, go back and strengthen your WHY.
RECAP: YOUR 8-STEP PLAN
-
Start with surface wants
-
Ask “Why is this important to me?” 3x
-
Add emotion
-
Picture the cost of not changing
-
Write your WHY (short + long)
-
Share it with a mentor
-
Post it everywhere
-
Prove it with action
This business will test you. It will stretch you. It will reveal who you are and what you really want, but with the right WHY, you’ll keep going no matter what! Your WHY is your anchor, it’s your power source, and when it’s real enough, you’ll lift the weight. You’ll run through the fire and you’ll build the life you were meant to live.
